- The Norwegian Government will include the view of the indigenous peoples in the negotiations in Copenhagen next week, Norwegian Minister of the Environment, Erik Solheim says.
It os not yet decided, however, whether the Saami Parliament will get a chance to present their views themselves, but the Minister promises that the Norwegian government will take advantage of any possibility to promote the indigenous peoples' expectations and concerns regarding climate change, NRK Sámi Radio reports.
The Norwegian Government has included the President of the Saami Parliament in the official delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15), as has the Finnish and the Swedish governments. Saami NGOs and other indigenous organizations and institutions from the Barents Region are already present in Copenhagen, together with indigenous peoples from the entire world.
