The Governor and the General Consul discussed the ongoing cooperation between Norwegian and Russian partners in general, but particular attention was brought to the cooperation between Naryan-Mar and Guovdageaidnu, which is expected to be intensified during the current year.
Also, the cooperation agreement between the oil-producing regions of Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Russia) and Stavanger fylke (Norway), signed in Naryan-Mar in September 2009) was mentioned as a solid relation between the two countries.

At the subsequent meeting between the General Consul and Yasavey(The Public Association of Nenets People), the idea of establishing a Nenets radio station was discussed. According to journalist Irina Khanzerova, the prospects seem rather positive, and the dialogue on the matter will continue.

The cooperation agreement between the municipality of Guovdageaidnu (Kautokeino) in Norway and Naryan-Mar in North-West Russia was signed in 1991, and the cooperation has been rather random. Next year, there will be a 20th anniversary for the agreement, and the two communities are working to intensify the cooperation during 2010. In 2008, a delegation from Guovdageaidnu visited Naryan-Mar and Nelmin-Nos, and agreed with their cooperation partners that focus for the cooperation would be put on reindeer husbandry and cultural exchange. Also, the village of Nelmin-Nos (north of Naryan-Mar) will be included in the future cooperation.
A delegation from Guovdageaidnu is planning to visit Naryan-Mar and Nelmin-Nos during the autumn, to go into more detailed planning of the implementation of joint projects.
