Saami manifestation in Rovaniemi

Saami youth and politicians from all four countries joined forces in rovaniemi on October 30th 2008 to protest against misuse of the Saami culture for commercial reasons.

Misuse of Saami cultural symbols and expressions has occured in certain commercial companies for decades, especially in the Northern part of Finland. The Saami youth organisations expressed their opinion about this by organising a march through the city of Rovaniemi (Finland) during the Saami Cultural Heritage Week 2008.
